On Sunday I woke up and did my usual getting ready routine. It takes me about 20 minutes to get ready including showering because I have to have a shower to wake up. I give myself an hour which includes eating breakfast and having a few moments to relax before I start my day. That night in particular, I hardly slept from dreaming all night, of this day… my job for this was to style and art direct a look book. This meant I was to get in contact with my work who forwarded me onto the managers of design at Service Denim whom I work for. The morning of the shoot I tipped all the clothes out of the bag and arranged them in styled outfits for each shot. This also meant that I had to be looking at my mood board to make sure I was getting the desired effect. The concept to my look book was a 60s inspired, modernised theatrical edge. This dealt with lots of black, hints of white and a dab of red. In conclusion I had 5 outfits laid out on my floor, ironed and all. Next step was gathering my crew. I contacted my team and made sure no one was quitting on me and then met up with my sister who was modelling. I styled her in the first look which was a 60s inspired black mini dress, a striped black and white turtle neck underneath paired with sheer stockings and black shiny pumps. We met up with the team and had a nourishing breakfast to get the ball rolling and went on our way. The whole plan was to do the shoot at the Melbourne drains, but of course the Melbourne weather decided to cramp our style. We moved our shoot to the hair and makeup artists house and set up in her lounge room (this included moving all her furniture in the kitchen.) Hair and makeup started, the hair and makeup artist was following another mood board that I had sent her, so each crew member had their own mood board to follow. This one in particular was dark eyes to make them pop and slicked back hair pushed to the side. Think of Twiggy and Trinity from the matrix put together. While this was occurring the photographer and I set up the room. We set up a white back drop, two flashes and an Octobox. We did some test shots and we were ready. Isabella my sister was quite nervous for the fact she never modelled before, but she did incredible. The looks breezed by and each shot looked insanely perfect, just like I imagined. I didn’t add props only some accessories which were red go go boots mum lent me, a red beret from Germany I have at home, a thick black belt with a silver buckle and a long gold chain which also I stole from mum. The shoot went really well and I couldn’t be more proud of myself and my team.
